Greetings Baptist Churches,

Momentum is building for our Martin Luther King Jr. weekend kick off events for Baptist Build 2016.

On Saturday morning January 16, volunteers begin framing walls at 8:15 AM in the comfort of Habitat Wake's new construction center (near Habitat Wake's office). At 11:30 AM, the walls are transported to the Neuse View site. At 11:45 AMwe will have a wall raising ceremony asking God's blessings on this project and then start framing the Baptist Build houses that afternoon.

Even if your church is not scheduled to work on January 16, we would love to have a representative from each church at the 11:45 AM wall raising ceremony. Please let me know if you can attend, and I will start working on the program for the ceremony.

The next day, Sunday, January 17 we will have a celebration worship service at 4PM with participating churches from the Wake Missionary and Raleigh Baptist Associations. If you have choirs or special worship artists that would like to perform at this service, please let Pastors Nix or Connelly know. They are planning this service.

I appreciate James, Roger and Johnny stepping forward to coordinate the Baptist Build volunteer schedule. If not done already, please let your coordinator and Roberta Macauley, roberta.macauley@habitatwake.org, know the dates that you would like to send teams from your church. Stay tuned about special youth work days.

Once you have picked your work days, ask your church's volunteers to register on the Volunteer Hub link: http://vhub.at/baptistbuild2016. It would be great to have this 10 week schedule filled by our first work day, January 16. Don't forget to invite individuals in your congregation to work additional days that they are available, especially Thursday and Fridays.

Habitat for Humanity Dedication Ceremony

On Saturday morning, May 30th, Jo Anna Robertson's home was dedicated with praise to God for the gifts shared to build the home.  Roger Nix from the Raleigh Baptist Association welcomed the group, Rev Richard Childress, the pastor of New Hope Baptist, blessed the home, and Rick Beech thanked all the churches involved.

Rev Marvin Connelly, spoke representing the Wake Missionary Baptist Association, celebrating the unity between churches who helped with the build.  New Hope Baptist presented the family with a quilt for their new home.

The community of supporters gathered to dedicate the home to the glory of God and to be a blessing to the Robertson family, JoAnn, Tyrese and Tyshawn.

Rick Beech presented Jo Anne Robertson with a Bible as a gift from Habitat.

The roof is going on!

These are the 26 wonderful volunteers who came on Saturday, March 21, hard hats on and ready to work.  The team made a lot of progress, laying the plywood on the roof and adding the felt paper.

We thank the Broughton Sunday School Class from Trinity Baptist for the wonderful lunch  served to everyone present.

Work was also done reinforcing and bracing the rafters.

Busy hands swept out water and mud collected from recent rains.

The next work to be done is scheduled for this week.  The driveway and sidewalk will be poured and the plumbing and electrical wiring will be started.

Thanks to everyone for their willing hands and kind hearts.

Praise from Jo-Ann Robertson

On Wed, Feb 25, 2015 Jo-Ann Robertson sent this message to the Habitat team:

"Rick it was a great turn out for the Groundblessing on February 14, 2015. This was a great
Valentine's Day for Tyrese, Tyshawn, and myself. I give a great big shout out to God, to every church and congregation who's participating in the Baptist Build, and to any one who decides to become a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity. I'm thrilled that I opened the door for Jesus and he allowed me to apply @ Habitat for Humanity. I have a met a great staff and I'm very pleased of the outcome from everyone who's participating in the Baptist Build to build a home for my children and myself. May God continue to bless you and the staff @ Habitat for Humanity."
